About St. Martin's Paperbacks
St. Martin's Paperbacks is the mass-market paperback imprint of St. Martin's Press of New York, and its name appears on editions of genre fiction such as Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter novels and Lisa Kleypas's Hathaway romances.
Its parent, St. Martin's Press, was set up in 1952 by the British firm Macmillan Publishers, a year after Macmillan had sold its stake in the American Macmillan company. The name came from St Martin's Lane in London, where Macmillan had its head office. From 1984 St. Martin's put out paperback editions of its own hardcovers through an in-house firm, St. Martin's Mass Market Paperback Co., Inc. In 1987 it bought the science fiction and fantasy house Tor-Forge.
Open Library records credit St. Martin's Paperbacks with editions of Kenyon's Night Pleasures, an early Dark-Hunter title first published in September 2002, and of Kleypas's Seduce Me at Sunrise (2008), part of her Hathaway sequence.
In 1995 Macmillan, including St. Martin's, was sold to the German Holtzbrinck group. St. Martin's Press now belongs to Macmillan Publishers in the United States and is based in the Equitable Building at 120 Broadway, Manhattan.
